Marketing is important, as we all do it every day. We market a product, a service or simply ourselves, and when we do marketing we perform a generous act. Marketing gets better when you do it with intent.
You have something that may solve someone’s problem. You are holding the key that can open a door to new opportunities, a better life.
Marketing is not science and it is not magic. It is an art that’s based on science and when done right can make someone feel magic. You can get good at doing marketing too.
This is not me, Oran, trying to disguise marketing as something nice because marketing is truly nice. Good marketing is a great thing to experience. Just think about a purchase you’ve made that transformed you at the moment. Perhaps it was a course you signed up for, a new car, or simply a romantic dinner with someone you deeply care about.
To do marketing well, you must be generous because it takes a lot of emotional effort. It will require that you do a very hard thing. You are going to need to put yourself in someones else’s shoes and that’s far from easy. It will force you to be brave and try things that may not work.
So yes, to perform good marketing you have to be generous, and you must be nice (most of the time), and professional too, even when you don’t feel like it. No one will buy from you if you are selfish and show no genuine care unless your buyer is sadistic and honestly I don’t think that’s the kind of person you want to serve anyway.
Learn to do good marketing, it will change your business and it will change your life.
